Deborah Marchini is the New York-based anchor for CNN Financial News. This division of CNN produces business news and reports for CNN/U.S., CNN International, Headline News, CNN Airport News, and CNN Radio. Marchini co-anchors CNN's Business Day, a one-hour, live program designed to provide all the business and financial news that the successful professional requires before beginning a day at the office. She also anchors Before Hours, the CNN program that looks ahead to the day's business and economic events, with updates from London on European market activity.
Prior to her current anchor duties, Marchini had served as CNN's chief Washington business correspondent. In fulfilling this role, she reported on proposed tax reform measures and trade legislation. She also provided insight on Federal Reserve actions, government regulated industries, inflation and unemployment rates, and how each related to the overall U.S. economy. Utilizing her honed investigatory skills, Marchini supplied the business world with thoughtful reflections on the dramatic 1987 stock market plunge and the Savings & Loan crisis.
Marchini began her career with CNN Financial News in 1985 as a New York correspondent covering the happenings on Wall Street. Prior to this career move, she served as a reporter for ESPN's Business Times, and was also a correspondent for the Bureau of National Affairs and Standard and Poore's Daily News.
